ROBERT CLINGAN began his noh training with Richard Emmert in 1995 and later trained under Omura Sadamu and Akira Matsui. He has studied kabuki and Japanese aesthetics with Shozo Sato. Rob received a Fulbright Scholarship to Tokyo in 1997 where he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Asian Cultural Studies. He has taught theatre at Loyola College of Maryland, Coppin State College and headed the theatre department at Southwestern Oregon Community College from 2001 to 2009. There he won notoriety for his noh-influenced stagings of the plays of Samuel Beckett. Retired, Rob now resides in a tiny Eskimo village in Alaska.
