YUKIE IITOMI

YUKIE IITOMI A founding member of Theatre Nohgaku, Iitomi Yukie was born in Tokyo and began her training in Hosho-style noh chant and dance at age 12. After graduating from the Japanese Music Department of Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music, she became a professional noh actor at the Hosho noh Theater. In addition to performing, she taught amateur students at such institutions as Gakushuin University, Jumonji Academy, and the Chiyoda Senior Welfare Center. Since moving to Seattle with her husband David Crandall, she has performed in such events as the moonviewing party at the Japanese Garden, the New Year’s program at Nipponkan Theater, and the Japan Festival in Bellevue. She has given workshops with the support of the Seattle Japanese Consulate at such institutions as the University of Washington, the University of Montana, and Montana State University, has taught high school groups, and provides instruction to private students of all ages. Ms. Iitomi has also collaborated in the creation of experimental works with artists active in such fields as traditional Japanese dance, butoh, koto performance, and poetry.
