Biographies
ROBERT CLINGAN began his noh training with Richard Emmert in 1995 and later trained under Omura Sadamu and Akira Matsui. He has studied kabuki and Japanese aesthetics with Shozo Sato. Rob received a Fulbright Scholarship to Tokyo in 1997 where he was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Asian Cultural Studies. He has taught theatre at Loyola College of Maryland, Coppin State College and now heads the theatre department at Southwestern Oregon Community College. Recent productions there include noh-influenced stagings of Macbeth, The Furies, the Beckett one-acts and Pinter’s Other Places. His passion for mountain trekking has led him to Bali, Peru, Alaska and Nepal in recent years.
