Tom O'Connor

Tom O'Connor is very pleased to join Theatre Nohgaku. After training primarily as an actor, he created original roles for choreographers and dance-theatre artists including Maureen Fleming, John Giffin, and Rick Wamer, performing in New York, London, Edinburgh, Milan, and in regional venues within the US. A relative newcomer to Japanese classical theatre, he began his training in noh while living in Japan between 2002-2004, and has continued in a variety of workshop settings since then. In addition to performing, O’Connor has adapted several original physical theatre works, and has a number of professional credits as director and/or choreographer, including, most recently, choreography for the world premier of Every Man Jack with the Sonoma City Opera. Currently he lives in Massachusetts with his wife Shinko and two children, Naka and Mai.
