MAYA GINGERY

MAYA GINGERY is a dance artist and classically-trained flutist based in Los Angeles. She received her degrees at the University of California at San Diego and California Institute of the Arts, where she was a student of flute, contemporary music and world music and dance forms. She spent 10 years in Japan studying with prominent butoh artists, Min Tanaka, Kazuo Ohno and Akiko Motofuji and Noh with Theatre Nohgaku director Richard Emmert. She is a former assistant professor of communication at Future University-Hakodate in Hokkaido, Japan and is currently a teaching and performing artist in Los Angeles. Her solo work has been presented in the United States and Japan.
