YOSHIKAZU TANAKA (Nohkan Flute, Isso School) In 1996 Yoshizaku Tanaka entered the National Noh Theatre’s Instrumentalist Training Course in Tokyo ﾐ a 6-year course. There he was taught by noh master, Mr. Isso Yukimasa. In 1998 he had his first performance in Takasago at the National Noh Theatre. He has since performed the nohkan for many of the pieces of the standard noh repertory as part of his training course. In 2002 he performed Shakkyo as a graduation piece at the National Noh Theatre whereupon he was soon recognized as a full professional. He then became member of the Noh Performer’s Association performing regularly in professional noh performances throughout the Tokyo area.
