MITSUO KAMA

MITSUO KAMA (Kotsuzumi Shoulder Drum, Ko School) In 1967 he began study of the Kita school utai (chant) with Mr. Tani Daisaku. After extensive study at this school, among others, he became a founding member of the Tesarugaku-no-kai Noh performing group. In 1985 he established the Sanko-kai, Ko-ryu Kotsuzumi group of his amateur students. In this same year he was a member of the Toto-kai Noh Performance Tour to Hungary, Austria and Great Britain. In recent years he performed with Hosei-kai of the Kongo School of Kyoto, in Ashikari Ataka and Yuya. He now teaches Kotsuzumi and Otsuzumi in Tokyo three times per month to his students of the Sanko-kai, a school with 40 members. Regularly he performs Tesarugaku-no-kai, Sanko-kai (annual recital of his students), and Hosei-kai (an annual Kyoto performance).
